What once felt impossible in Hip-Hop is finally happening.
After nearly two decades separated by prison walls, legal battles and completely different life paths, French Montana and Max B are officially reuniting for a brand-new project titled Wave Gods 2: Cosmos Brothers — and fans are calling it one of rap’s most emotional comebacks in years.
The album arrives on May 22, just months after Max B walked free following 17 years and 10 months behind bars.
For longtime fans, the moment feels surreal.
Back when Max B was sentenced to what originally looked like a life-ending prison term, many believed the chemistry between him and French Montana would become another unfinished chapter in Hip-Hop history. Instead, the two artists somehow managed to keep their bond alive through years of prison phone calls, industry changes and personal evolution.
Now, they’re finally finishing what they started.
According to French Montana, the reunion carries a deeper meaning than simply releasing music together again. He described the project as “a miracle,” admitting there was a time when he genuinely thought Max B would never come home.
Their connection reportedly became even more emotional when Max B discovered his release date landed on French Montana’s birthday — something both artists viewed as symbolic.
That coincidence eventually inspired the project’s subtitle, Cosmos Brothers, after Max repeatedly described the moment as “cosmic energy” during their conversations from prison.
The energy surrounding the album already feels bigger than nostalgia.
For years, Max B has remained one of the most influential cult figures in modern rap despite being incarcerated. His melodic style, slang and wave-inspired sound heavily shaped an entire generation of artists long before melodic rap fully dominated mainstream music.
French Montana never stopped publicly crediting Max B for that influence.
Now that Max is finally home, both artists appear determined to restore the chemistry and musical identity fans believed was lost forever.
Max B has also spoken openly about how grateful he feels to still have support after nearly 18 years away from the world. Instead of approaching music with bitterness, he says he’s focused on giving back to the culture and rewarding the people who never abandoned him during his incarceration.
French Montana echoed similar feelings, explaining that today’s music industry often moves too fast and lacks the timeless quality albums once carried. He says Wave Gods 2 is part of a larger mission to bring back substance, replay value and musical excellence.
The project already generated major conversation online after previews of songs like “Smoking Part 2” surfaced ahead of release.
But beyond the music itself, fans are emotionally invested because the reunion represents something rare in Hip-Hop — loyalty surviving nearly two decades of separation.
At a time when rap feuds, industry politics and short-lived trends dominate headlines, the return of French Montana and Max B feels like a story about unfinished business finally getting a second chance.
And after everything both artists endured to reach this point, Wave Gods 2: Cosmos Brothers already feels bigger than just another album drop.
