Jess Hilarious is entering a completely new chapter in her career — one that goes far beyond comedy, viral clips and radio interviews.

The comedian and Breakfast Club co-host is now officially an author, using her personal experiences with motherhood, heartbreak and healing as the inspiration behind her new book, Till Death Do We Parent: Raising My Kid with His Dad.

Jess HilariousDuring a candid conversation with AllHipHop, Jess explained that the book wasn’t written to entertain people with celebrity stories or industry gossip. Instead, she wanted to challenge the toxic stereotypes often attached to co-parenting — especially within Black families.

According to Jess, too many people believe separated parents are destined for constant drama, resentment and dysfunction. She wanted her story to prove otherwise.

“We can co-parent successfully without being together,” she explained. “It doesn’t always have to be toxicity.”

Jess admitted that things were far from perfect in the beginning between her and her son’s father, Jerome. Like many couples navigating a breakup while raising a child, emotions often turned ugly and arguments became deeply personal.

Jess Hilarious: Comedy's Unapologetic StarShe said both of them spent time “hitting below the belt” while trying to win fights emotionally instead of focusing on healing. But over time, they learned how to communicate better and prioritize their child over their personal issues.

That journey became the emotional core of her book.

Rather than portraying herself as someone with all the answers, Jess said she wanted readers to see the messy reality of growth, maturity and forgiveness. She hopes the book encourages other parents to realize that a romantic relationship ending does not automatically mean the family itself has to fall apart.

The media personality also reflected on her evolving role at The Breakfast Club, especially after the show’s move to Netflix.

Jess admitted the transition initially felt overwhelming, but she now sees it as a major turning point for the platform and for the culture overall.

According to her, Netflix is aggressively expanding beyond traditional television and positioning itself as an all-in-one entertainment powerhouse that includes podcasts, music content, sports, comedy and news programming.

She even joked that she wouldn’t be surprised if Netflix eventually created its own version of the legendary music countdown show 106 & Park.

Jess also proudly pointed out that The Breakfast Club continues dominating in the podcast world, saying viewership reportedly increased significantly following the Netflix partnership.

One of the most emotional moments in the interview came when she discussed maintaining healthy long-term relationships with co-parents. Jess emphasized the importance of continuing to uplift and support the mother or father of your child — even after romance fades.

She described parenthood as a lifelong commitment that extends far beyond childhood.

“People say parenting ends at 18,” she explained. “But you still need your parents at 35, 45, even 80 years old.”

Jess believes that mindset shift is what helped transform her own family dynamic. Instead of viewing co-parenting as a battle, she now sees it as a permanent partnership built around love for their child.

The release of Till Death Do We Parent marks another major step in Jess Hilarious’ evolution from internet comedian to respected media personality, entrepreneur and now author.

And while fans may know her for making people laugh, this latest project shows she’s equally focused on creating conversations that heal, inspire and challenge the way people think about family relationships.
