Michael Blackson just pulled back the curtain on TV money… and fans were NOT ready for those numbers. The comedian went viral after showing off a stack of residual checks he received from past appearances on Wild ‘N Out — and the amounts had everybody in shock.

Blackson joked that people assume anyone on television is automatically rich, but according to him, that couldn’t be further from the truth. While opening envelope after envelope on camera, he revealed checks worth just cents at a time, including payments for 64 cents, 76 cents, 93 cents and even 62 cents.

“TV are broke,” he said while laughing through the frustration. “It cost me more money to cash this than to use it.”

The comedian also joked that the tiny payouts were nowhere near enough to handle real-life expenses like child support, making the moment even more hilarious — and painfully relatable for entertainers outside the superstar level.

At one point, Blackson thanked Nick Cannon for the checks before sarcastically reacting to the low amounts, calling them “wild checks” instead of Wild ’N Out checks.

Still, he made it clear where the real money comes from in entertainment.

According to Blackson, touring is what actually pays the bills, not television appearances. He encouraged fans to come see him live during his upcoming shows in Washington, D.C., saying comedians who aren’t consistently on the road can quickly go broke.

The clip instantly sparked debate online, with many fans shocked to learn how little some TV residuals can be unless you’re a major series regular or producer. Others praised Blackson for being transparent about the realities of the entertainment industry behind the cameras.

Now social media is asking the same question: if THIS is what a recognizable TV comedian gets paid in residuals… how many entertainers are secretly struggling financially behind the scenes?
