What started as Max B casually placing himself next to legends like Nas, Jay-Z, and Biggie somehow turned into one of the biggest “DON’T PLAY WITH HIP HOP ROYALTY” moments the culture has seen in a long time.

Joe Budden & Gillie Da Kid ADDRESS 😳 Max B Disrespecting Big Daddy Kane 🔥🎤 - YouTube

The backlash exploded after Max seemed to downplay Big Daddy Kane’s legacy during a debate about rap greatness. The second Kane’s name came up, fans, rappers, podcasters, comedians, and old-school hip hop heads instantly flooded social media defending the Brooklyn icon. Even people who normally rock with Max B admitted he picked the WRONG legend to disrespect.

Joe Budden’s podcast went off about it too, with Ice saying nobody in hip hop should ever be talking reckless about Big Daddy Kane’s name. They reminded everyone Kane is still performing worldwide, still respected, still sharper than a lot of rappers today, and still viewed as one of the greatest performers the genre has ever produced.

Then Gilly jumped in and flipped the entire conversation upside down by saying Max B actually HELPED Big Daddy Kane because people suddenly started talking about him again. That take immediately sparked another debate online, with fans accusing Gilly of trying to “gaslight” hip hop fans into believing legends only get attention when controversy happens.

Now the internet is completely split.

Some people think Max B was just being confident and got misunderstood.

Others think he crossed a line you NEVER cross in hip hop culture.

And honestly… the wildest part is how fast EVERYBODY united to defend Kane. In an era where rap fans argue about everything, this might be the quickest the culture has collectively said, “Nah, you went too far.”

Do y’all think Max B was disrespecting Big Daddy Kane… or are people overreacting to rap talk?
