Amy Duggar King is opening up about her relationship with cousin Jill Duggar Dillard and how the two women have become much closer while the Duggar family faces yet another major scandal.
In a recent interview, Amy shared that she and Jill have spent weeks staying in contact and emotionally supporting one another following the arrest of Joseph Duggar earlier this year. According to Amy, their relationship has evolved into something far deeper than the casual cousin connection they once had growing up inside the famous Duggar family.
โJill and I are really close,โ Amy explained during the interview, adding that sheโs thankful for the friendship and trust theyโve built over time. She described Jill as someone she can now connect with on a much deeper emotional level, especially after everything both women have experienced involving the Duggar family over the years.
Amy revealed that she and Jill regularly exchange text messages filled with encouragement and reassurance. Messages like โI love youโ and โWeโre going to get through this togetherโ have reportedly helped both women process the emotional fallout surrounding the familyโs latest controversy.
The situation intensified after Joseph Duggar was arrested in March 2026 in connection with allegations involving the sexual abuse of a 9-year-old girl during a family vacation in Florida back in 2020. Joseph has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is currently awaiting trial.
Amy said the recent scandal has forced many family members to reflect on long-standing issues within the Duggar family structure and culture. She explained that trust was difficult for both her and Jill because of the environment they were raised around, but over time they realized they could safely confide in one another without fear of betrayal or judgment.
According to Amy, their relationship used to stay mostly โsurface level,โ focused on family gatherings and appearances, but things changed as they both began speaking more openly about difficult experiences and personal struggles connected to their upbringing.
Amy has publicly distanced herself from parts of the Duggar family for years, particularly after the scandals involving Josh Duggar became public. She previously said that those situations made her begin questioning many of the beliefs and systems she grew up around.
She also claimed the Duggar environment often protected authority figures while discouraging victims or family members from speaking openly about abuse and trauma. Amy believes those patterns have continued repeating themselves over time, which is why she decided to step away and focus on building a healthier life for herself and her family.
Despite all the controversy surrounding the Duggars, Amy says one positive outcome has been the stronger relationship she now shares with Jill, describing it as genuine, supportive and built on real trust for the first time in their lives.
