Anderson Silva is not holding back after Dana White’s recent comments regarding his exit from the UFC. The legendary fighter, who once dominated the octagon, took to social media to address White’s remarks, making it clear that he feels misunderstood and underappreciated for his contributions to the promotion.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, White claimed that Silva, now 40, has refused to communicate with him since his departure from the UFC. The conversation turned to Silva’s exit following a string of losses, including a defeat to Uriah Hall, which marked his third consecutive setback and seventh loss in his last nine fights. Silvaโs response came swiftly in the comments section of an Instagram post.
Silva expressed his frustration in Portuguese, stating, โThe bald guy saying (sh*t). Iโve been out of the organization for many years already, but apparently neither the current fighters nor the bald guy himself can forget my accomplishments.โ He continued, asserting, โDeep down, the bald guy knows that with me there was no whining, everybody got beat up, and I saved the promotion more than once.โ His remarks seemed to challenge Whiteโs claim that Silva had lost โlike 8 or 9 or 10 in a rowโ before his release.
Since leaving the UFC in 2020, Silva has not competed under MMA rules. His final fights in the octagon included losses to Hall, Jared Cannonier, and Israel Adesanya. Transitioning to boxing, he has faced notable opponents like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Tito Ortiz, and Tyron Woodley, with a notable defeat against Jake Paul in between.
Silva’s legacy in the UFC is undeniable. He once held the title for an astonishing 16 consecutive wins and delivered unforgettable performances against legends such as Dan Henderson, Chael Sonnen, and Vitor Belfort. Additionally, he showcased his versatility by moving up in weight and achieving a perfect 3-0 record at light heavyweight, with all victories coming by way of first-round knockout, including a memorable finish of former champion Forrest Griffin.
As the debate continues over Silva’s legacy and White’s comments, fans are left wondering: what does the future hold for “The Spider,” and will there ever be a reconciliation between the fighter and the promotion that made him a star?
