A shocking grand jury report is igniting outrage across the country after revealing that an Oklahoma woman convicted in a devastating drunk-driving crash allegedly received extraordinary treatment behind bars before being quietly released after serving only 73 days of an eight-year sentence.

The woman at the center of the controversy is Sara Polston, a wealthy Oklahoma mother who pleaded guilty in connection to a 2023 DUI crash that nearly killed 20 year old Micaela Borrego. Prosecutors said Borrego suffered catastrophic injuries after Polston allegedly sped through a neighborhood while intoxicated and slammed directly into her vehicle.
But what is now horrifying people even more is not just the crash itself.
It is what allegedly happened after the conviction.

Victim Left Fighting To Walk Again
According to the report, Borrego’s injuries were life-altering.
Authorities say she was driving home from work when Polston — allegedly traveling 66 mph in a 25 mph residential zone — blew through multiple stop signs before crashing into her car.
The impact was so violent that Borrego’s vehicle reportedly launched off the roadway and slammed into a brick home.
Investigators said the driver’s side of the car was crushed inward, trapping the young woman inside.
Borrego later suffered severe brain trauma, swelling around the brain, spinal fractures, artery injuries, and multiple other catastrophic injuries. She reportedly remained in a coma for two months and later had to relearn basic life functions including walking and speaking.
Court documents reportedly stated her life expectancy was permanently shortened because of the injuries.
Meanwhile, prosecutors say Polston walked away with relatively minor injuries.
Margaritas, Tequila, And A Drive To Pick Up Children
Investigators say Polston later admitted she had been drinking margaritas during lunch before getting behind the wheel.
Authorities also reportedly found a tequila bottle inside her vehicle after the crash.
Even more disturbing to many people following the case is the allegation that Polston was allegedly on her way to pick up her children from school at the time of the collision.
After pleading guilty, she was sentenced to eight years in prison.
But according to the grand jury findings, that sentence barely lasted.
Released After Just 73 Days
The report states Polston entered prison in December 2025 but was released by February 2026 with little more than GPS monitoring.
That means she reportedly served only about 2.5% of her original sentence.
The revelation sparked immediate backlash — especially after investigators began examining how her early release allegedly happened so quickly.
According to the grand jury report, prosecutors found evidence suggesting political connections and influence may have played a role in Polston receiving unusually favorable treatment while incarcerated.
Although the report did not accuse anyone of criminal wrongdoing, the findings painted a deeply troubling picture of privilege inside the justice system.
Allegations Of “Political Favoritism”
The report specifically focused on Polston’s husband, attorney Rod Polston, who allegedly maintained close ties with powerful political figures in Oklahoma.
Investigators noted that the couple had reportedly donated nearly $28,000 to Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt and previously hosted a fundraiser for him.
Court records also allegedly referenced conversations involving efforts to move Sara Polston through the prison system quickly and secure her early release.
At one point, according to the report, Rod Polston allegedly discussed not wanting to “bother Kevin” while talking about getting his wife out sooner.
Governor Stitt has denied wrongdoing and stated he did not personally end Polston’s sentence.
Still, public outrage intensified once additional allegations surfaced about her treatment behind bars.
iPads, Chick-fil-A, And Special Privileges In Prison
The grand jury report claimed Polston allegedly enjoyed conditions far different from ordinary inmates during her short incarceration.
Investigators alleged she was allowed unusual freedom inside the prison, including flexible housing arrangements, access to an iPad outside normal procedures, and even outside food deliveries coordinated by her husband.
One reported example involving Chick-fil-A deliveries quickly exploded online after details became public.
Critics argued the allegations exposed a justice system where wealth and political influence appeared capable of changing outcomes that ordinary people could never obtain.
Victim’s Family Reportedly Wasn’t Even Notified
Perhaps one of the most emotional revelations involved the victim herself.
According to the report, Borrego and her family allegedly were never informed before Polston was released from prison.
That detail triggered enormous backlash online, with many questioning how someone convicted in such a devastating DUI case could allegedly leave prison so quickly without victims even being warned.
The grand jury has since recommended reforms, including minimum prison time requirements before DUI offenders become eligible for release programs and mandatory victim notification procedures.
Public Reaction Explodes Online
As details continue spreading online, the case has become a lightning rod for broader debates about privilege, political influence, and unequal treatment inside the criminal justice system.
For many people, the most haunting part is the contrast at the center of the story: A young woman permanently scarred and struggling to rebuild her life… While the woman responsible allegedly spent only weeks behind bars before returning home.
