Khaos Williams is making his highly anticipated return to the Octagon, and he’s ready to remind fans why he’s a force to be reckoned with in the world of mixed martial arts. After a challenging year, “The Oxfighter” is set to unleash his intensity at UFC Fight Night: Allen vs. Costa this Saturday night.
It’s been nearly a year since Williams last stepped into the cage, where he faced Andreas Gustafsson at UFC 316 and suffered a unanimous decision loss. This marked the first time in his career that he faced back-to-back defeats, but instead of dwelling on the setbacks, Williams has used the time to refocus and improve.
“It’s just life, man. We just got to keep moving forward,” Williams shared in a recent interview with UFC.com. “We can’t change yesterday. All we can do is focus on right now and focus on the future.”
Reflecting on his previous fights, Williams acknowledged that injuries and taking bouts on short notice contributed to his recent struggles. Now, with a renewed sense of purpose, he’s eager to showcase the growth he’s made since his debut in 2020.
“I’ve worked on everything, and I’m ready to just show the people,” he declared. “We just continue to get better, every single day. That gradual increase, every single day, that’s what it’s about.”
As he prepares for his matchup against Kazakhstan’s Nikolay Veretennikov, who recently scored a first-round TKO victory over Niko Price, Williams is undeterred by his opponent’s recent success. He’s confident in his abilities and ready to impose his will inside the Octagon.
“It really don’t matter. We’re all the same. As far as his chin, man, we’re gonna test it out,” Williams stated. “He is durable. I see that. But I never sleep on nobody when it’s time to go out there in competition.”
Despite Veretennikov’s reputation for striking, Williams is prepared for any scenario, including a potential grappling exchange. “One day, they’re a striker. The next day, they get in there, they get touched, and they turn into a grappler,” he explained. “So I’m just prepared to go out here and do my thing and have some fun out there.”
With his natural knockout power, Williams understands the importance of honing all aspects of his game. He’s focused on becoming a well-rounded fighter, which he believes will only make him more dangerous in the Octagon.
“We’ve always got that one shot. But one thing about it, I never admire my work too long,” he said. “I know that I’ve got to continue to get better at everything.”
As fight night approaches, Williams is eager to flip the narrative surrounding his recent losses. He wants his opponent to feel the pressure when they meet in the Octagon. “The fight looks bad for him, straight up,” he asserted confidently.
With a fresh mindset and a determination to reclaim his place in the welterweight division, Khaos Williams is ready to deliver a statement performance. “The fans should expect me going out here and having an electrifying statement victory on Saturday,” he promised.
What will this comeback mean for Williams and the rest of the welterweight division? Fans can’t wait to find out.
