The ongoing royal family fracture has reportedly become one of the deepest pains of King Charles’ reign. New revelations surrounding the collapse of Prince Harry and Prince William’s relationship are once again shaking the British monarchy, especially after reports emerged about the king’s emotional plea to his two sons following Prince Philip’s funeral.
According to claims published by Woman Magazine and shared by royal author Duncan Larcombe, King Charles sees the breakdown between the Sussexes and the Prince and Princess of Wales as “one of the most distressing aspects” of his short time on the throne.
Since Queen Elizabeth II passed away in September 2022 and Charles officially became king, the British royal family has faced constant internal turmoil. However, the bitter divide between his two sons is reportedly the issue that weighs most heavily on the monarch.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior working royals in 2020 before relocating to the United States. Since then, the couple has participated in several explosive interviews and made a series of damaging allegations against the royal family.
The biggest shock came during their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where Harry and Meghan stunned audiences worldwide with deeply personal accusations. Meghan revealed that she experienced suicidal thoughts while pregnant with Archie but claimed she was denied help by palace officials.
The couple also triggered global controversy after alleging there had been “concerns and conversations” within the royal family regarding how dark Archie’s skin color might be before he was born.
Meanwhile, Harry described both his father — now King Charles — and his brother William as men who were “trapped within the system.”
Following the explosive interview, Buckingham Palace released an official statement saying the entire family was “saddened” to learn how challenging the past few years had been for Harry and Meghan. The palace also stated that the issues raised, particularly those involving race, would be addressed privately by the family.
However, tensions inside the monarchy did not fade. In his memoir Spare, released in 2023, Harry shared even more controversial details about his relationship with both his father and brother.
One of the most talked-about passages described the confrontation that took place after Prince Philip’s funeral in April 2021. Harry claimed the conversation between himself, William, and King Charles quickly turned into a heated argument.
According to Harry, every time he attempted to explain his perspective, William interrupted him and refused to listen. The discussion became so intense that King Charles reportedly stepped between his sons to stop the fight.
In Spare, Harry wrote that his father desperately pleaded: “Please, boys… don’t make my final years a misery.”
The emotional statement quickly became one of the most discussed and heartbreaking moments connected to the royal family’s ongoing crisis.
Although Harry has met King Charles a few times since leaving royal life, British media reports suggest that his relationship with Prince William has now completely collapsed.
