During a recent episode of the Jinger & Jeremy Podcast, Jinger revealed that she and husband Jeremy Vuolo have not spent Christmas Day at the Duggar family home in nearly nine years.
According to Jinger, the decision was never about family drama or distance. Instead, she explained that Christmas has traditionally been the one time each year Jeremy’s side of the family is fully together, making it important for them to spend the holidays with the Vuolos after their 2016 marriage.
“Throughout the years, we decided that would be the time we spend with the Vuolo family,” Jinger explained during the podcast conversation.
At the same time, she pointed out that the Duggar family sees each other frequently throughout the year because of weddings, birthdays, and other gatherings involving the massive family.
Still, this year the couple decided to change things up so their children could finally experience what Jinger calls a true “Duggar family Christmas.”
The former 19 Kids and Counting star shares daughters Felicity and Evangeline with Jeremy, along with their son Finnegan Charles, who was born earlier in 2025.
Jinger admitted she misses the holiday chaos she grew up with inside the Duggar household, describing Christmas mornings as loud, crowded, and unpredictable. Some years, everyone would rush downstairs together and tear into presents all at once in what she described as “chaos.” Other years, the family opened gifts one person at a time.
This year’s celebration will also include a family gift exchange. Jinger revealed she drew sister Jana Duggar, while Jeremy joked that he would be shopping for Jinger’s father, Jim Bob Duggar.
Jinger also acknowledged that returning home now feels very different than it did growing up. With many siblings now married and living in different places, she says family visits can become overwhelming because everyone wants time together at once.
Despite the changes, Jinger says she still values the memories and traditions she grew up with and wants her own children to experience a little bit of that unique Duggar Christmas atmosphere for themselves.
