Colby Covington is gearing up to face Arman Tsarukyan in a highly anticipated RAF wrestling match on July 18, but the MMA star isn’t holding back his criticism of his opponent’s behavior. Covington, known for his polarizing persona, believes Tsarukyan has gone too far with his antics, and he feels compelled to teach him a lesson in the ring.
Covington, who recently improved his RAF record to 3-0 after defeating Chris Weidman, has never shied away from controversy. His history of provocative statements has often blurred the lines between fight promotion and offensive remarks. While Tsarukyan maintains a cleaner public image, he has had his share of incidents, including a physical altercation with a fan and a pre-fight confrontation that reportedly left Dan Hooker with a fractured nose.
At the RAF 09 post-fight press conference, Covington expressed his disdain for Tsarukyan’s actions. “I just don’t like his antics,” he stated. “Throwing Urijah Faber, a legend of the sport, off the stage; brawling with guys on the wrestling mat. That’s not professional. That’s not how we act in the wrestling world. I want to set him straight. You don’t come to America and disrespect us Americans. Now he’s going to have to face one of the greatest Americans in wrestling. I plan on dunking him and giving him a wedgie like the little nerd that he is.”
As for Tsarukyan, he has been undefeated in RAF since joining the organization in January, boasting a record of 5-0. However, Covington believes he will be the toughest opponent Tsarukyan has faced to date. “He’s been going against guys who are a lot smaller than him,” Covington pointed out. “Urijah was 20, 30 pounds lighter. He hasn’t wrestled at a high, All-American level like I have. I’m the one who’s around the same size as him. I might have 10 pounds on him, but we’re similar in size. I’m going to be a real challenge and can’t wait to give him his first loss in RAF.”
With tensions rising and both fighters eager to prove themselves, fans are left wondering how this showdown will unfold. What will happen when these two fierce competitors finally meet on the mat?
